Thiruvananthapuram: A forest range officer’s emotional letter to the head of the department requesting permission to die along with his family is gaining media attention. P. Abdul Jalil, the Munnar Working Plan Range Officer, wrote a letter to the Forest Department head and to the Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (APCCF), requesting permission to commit suicide along with his family due to mistreatment by his superior. The letter highlights the unfair withholding of his entitled salary and benefits.
The letter also urges the authorities to take a decision on removal, transfer, suspension, or self-retirement. It accuses the Munnar Working Plan Officer of causing distress by not providing proper salary and refusing to release his provident fund, resulting in a financial crisis for him and his family.
Furthermore, the letter claims that while his colleagues receive their entitled salary and benefits, the Working Plan Officer is not giving him salary properly and not allowing him to withdraw his rightful Provident Fund. This has pushed him and his family to a financial crisis, the letter said.
