Thiruvananthapuram: Two more COVID-related deaths were confirmed in Kerala yesterday, adding to the growing concerns about the pandemic in the state. According to the Union Health Ministry data, out of the 142 reported cases nationwide until 8 a.m. on Tuesday, 115 are from Kerala. With the holiday season is around the corner, the health department is cautioning individuals arriving in the city to exercise heightened vigilance. Authorities emphasise the importance of maintaining social distancing and personal hygiene measures. Both the elderly and children are advised to stay away from crowded places. The health department is also urging the conduct of additional RTPCR and antigen tests in all districts, in accordance with COVID guidelines.
In light of the sudden uptick in flu cases attributed to the cold weather and seasonal changes in December, the health department stresses the need for vigilance. Individuals aged 60 and above, as well as those with underlying health conditions, are advised to take extra precautions. Additionally, frequent fever sufferers are encouraged to seek medical attention in hospitals rather than resorting to self-medication.
