Kannur: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken the Plus two bribery case involving Muslim League leader KM Shaji to the Supreme Court. The High Court had quashed the ED’s case against KM Shaji under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Due to this, the ED approached the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court sent a notice to the parties in the case, including Shaji, on the petition of the ED.
Earlier, the court had also sent a notice to KM Shaji on the plea filed against the cancellation of the vigilance case taken by the state government. The Supreme Court will consider both the petitions together later. A vigilance case was registered in 2020 on the complaint that KM Shaji took a bribe of Rs 25 lakh to grant Plus Two batch in Azhikode Higher Secondary School, Kannur, in 2014. ED also registered a case on this complaint. On June 19, 2023, the High Court acquitted KM Shaji in the Plus Two case. ED filed a petition in the Supreme Court against this.
