Thiruvananthapuram: In the aftermath of Mahila Morcha’s protest at the residence of the Director General of Police (DGP), three policemen, identified as RRRF officers Muraleedharan Nair, Mohammad Shebin, and Sajin, have been suspended from duty.
The incident unfolded when Mahila Morcha activists launched a protest at the DGP’s residence, where these three policemen were on guard duty. The delay in dispersing the protesters from the premises of the DGP’s residence prompted the suspension of these on-duty officers, and an official order was issued to take action against them.
During the protest, it was noted that the absence of women police officers at the scene led to a continuation of the protest. Subsequently, the police intervened and forcibly removed the activists from the location.
The suspension order emphasises that the on-guard duty officers opened the gate without obtaining permission from the DGP or higher-ranking officials, and this action has adversely affected the reputation of the police force.
