Thiruvananthapuram: The Nava Kerala Sadas, led by the Chief Minister and state ministers, is set to conclude in Thiruvananthapuram today, marking the end of its journey that commenced on November 18 from Manjeshwaram in Kasaragod. Simultaneously, activists from the Yuva Morcha have called for a march to the Secretariat.
Despite the Chief Minister and his team visiting all districts to directly engage with the public and address grievances, concerns persist as solutions to these issues remain pending. The Nava Kerala Sadas was initiated with a pledge to resolve state-level complaints within 45 days, yet complaints persist even in regions where CPI(M) leaders hold power. Communist leaders defend the delays, citing an increased volume of complaints as the cause.
Opposition parties decry the Nava Kerala Sadas as a government extravagance, citing the expensive bus used for the Nava Kerala Sadas as an example. Protests by Congress and BJP workers against the event were reportedly met with police brutality.
On the concluding day, the Nava Kerala Sadas will be held in five constituencies: Kovalam, Nemom, Kazhakkoottam, Vattiyoorkavu, and Thiruvananthapuram. Preparations are underway for the final session at the Central Polytechnic College ground in Vattiyoorkavu. Anticipating opposition protests in the capital, security measures have been intensified. The Nava Kerala Sadas tour of four constituencies in Ernakulam district was postponed due to the death of CPI leader Kanam Rajendran and is rescheduled for the 1st and 2nd of the next month.
