Thiruvananthapuram: Four additional cases of the JN.1 virus, a subtype of the Corona virus, have been confirmed in Kozhikode. Earlier, an individual hailing from Thiruvananthapuram was also reported to be JN.1 positive. The total number of JN1 cases in the state now stands at five, and the overall COVID-19 cases in Kerala are also causing alarm, with the state reporting a total of three thousand cases. Meanwhile, the number of fatalities due to the virus this month has reached 17. Kerala owns 90 percent of the country’s current Corona virus patients.
Health authorities are urging citizens to exercise caution as the festive spirit of Christmas and the anticipation of New Year celebrations are in full swing. With the ongoing festivities, there is a heightened risk of an increase in infections. The health department has issued advisories encouraging people to adhere to safety protocols and take necessary precautions.
