THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala state government is facing mockery for granting a loan waiver reduction of only Rs 515 to an individual who sought a waiver on a loan of Rs 4 lakh during the Chief Minister’s Nava Kerala Sadas campaign programme.
Allegations have surfaced regarding authorities dismissing the grievance application submitted by a labourer from Kannur district during the ‘Nava Kerala Sadas’ campaign in Iritty. Due to financial constraints the petitioner had made the request seeking the waiver on loan he had taken for home renovation.
On December 6, the complainant received a notification from the Joint Registrar of the Co-operative Society stating that his complaint had been resolved.
The complainant had sought a waiver on the outstanding amount of Rs 3,97,731 he has to pay to the bank, but the authorities granted only Rs 515, requiring the remaining Rs 3,97,216 to be paid by December 31, 2023. The complainant expressed feeling insulted by this decision.
This incident has surfaced despite claims by the Kerala state government that complaints filed during the ‘Nava Kerala Sadas’ campaign have been resolved.
