Thiruvananthapuram: The honey trap allegations against many police officers in Kerala is spilling over into the political arena. A woman who leveled charges against a Sub Inspector for allegedly raping her has mentioned Devasom Minister, Kadakampally Surendran, in a phone conversation. ‘Janam TV’ has received the audio recording of the phone call of the woman.
The woman had earlier filed a complaint against the Sub Inspector of Thumba Police Station. In the conversation she says that Kadakampally had requested her not to mention his name when she had gone to see the Minister to speak about her complaint against the police officer.
In the phone conversation, the woman is heard saying that she is able to get Rs. 10 lakh and even Rs. 15 lakh from the minister. She also boasts about her influence in the Chief Minister’s office and says that she knows the political secretary of Pinarayi Vijayan.
The DGP has ordered an investigation into the alleged honey trap of many police officers in the state. It is believed that officers have lost lakhs of rupees after being blackmailed.
The investigator need to check the phone records of the minister to get to the bottom of the whole issue.
Interestingly, Kadakampally Surendran is the Minister of Devasom, who heads the management of temples including Sabarimala temple. During the agitation to save the tradition of the holy shrine, Kadakampally was actively supporting the Supreme Court order allowing women to enter the temple. He along with other communist leaders tried hard to break the protests by Ayyappa devotees against women entry.
It is ironical that the Devasom Minister finds himself embroiled in a honey trap allegation.
