Ernakulam: In the wake of the incident involving the disrespectful act towards Mahatma Gandhi’s statue, the SFI has come with its justification. The SFI leadership revealed that Athil Nassar had been removed from the position of Unit Secretary a month prior to the incident.
The Aluva Area Committee said that Athil Nassar, who held positions both as an Aluva Area Committee member and Union Secretary at Bharata Mata School of Legal Studies in Choondy, was ousted from the latter role a month ago. However, the specific reason for Nassar’s removal has not been disclosed by the SFI regional leadership.
The incident in question occurred during Christmas celebrations when Athil Nassar placed a cooling glass on the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the college and captured photos. The footage of this act spread widely on social media. In the video, Nassar is heard justifying his actions by stating that Gandhi is already dead. In response, the ABVP filed a complaint against him, leading to the police registering a case against the SFI leader.
