Pathanamthitta: Sabarimala experienced a reduction in crowds, and there was no rush at Pamba and Nilakkal. The crowd is concentrated only from Sannidhanam to Sabari Peedam, with the Nadapanthal in Pamba remaining empty. The crowd in the KSRTC bus station at Nilakkal and the vehicle parking ground decreased. Approximately 20,000 to 30,000 devotees are engaging in darshan rituals, with all devotees in the queue expected to complete their darshan by 1 pm.
Meanwhile, today marks the Mandala Puja at Sabarimala, conducted between 10.30 am and 11.30 am. Following the Mandala Puja, the sanctum sanctorum will be temporarily closed. It will be reopened on the 30th for the Makaravilakku Mahotsavam. The ‘Thanka Anki’ procession reached Sabarimala Sannidhanam last night.
In anticipation of large crowds at Sannidhanam, the Devaswom Board has announced comprehensive preparations for the Makaravilakku Mahotsavam. Devaswom Board president PS Prasanth announced that spot bookings for the Makaravilakku will be charged at Rs 80,000. The sanctum sanctorum is scheduled to open for the Makaravilakku Festival on December 30 at 5 pm.
