Thiruvananthapuram: The stand taken by Congress and CPI(M) on the invitation to Ayodhya Pratishta (consecration) ceremony is an insult to the majority community, said Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan. Muraleedharan pointed out that both groups have no qualms about holding a pro-Palestine rally and participating in the Iftar feast.
The argument that Pratishta ceremony is a central government program is childish. The event is organized by the temple trust. CPI(M) is saying that religion and politics are being mixed. Then why is the Devaswom Minister going to Sabarimala, Muraleedharan asked. The Union Minister also asked why the Devaswom department is in the hands of the Marxist party.
Congress leaders in the state remained silent even when there was a situation where the devotees took off their sacred Tulsi Mala and returned home due to the chaos at Sabarimala. The Union Minister also criticized that the Congress are the ones who pretended to be Rama devotees in North India and got votes.
