Kozhikode: Samastha Kerala Jem-Iyyathul Ulema president Syed Muhammad Jiffiri Muthukoya Thangal said the opinion expressed by ‘Suprabhatham’ (the mouthpiece of Samastha) on the Ayodhya Ram temple consecration issue was not that of the organisation. While talking to the media in Kozhikode Jiffiri Muthukoya Thangal expressed that no matter what stance any political parties take on attending the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya, the sentiments of Samastha will not be hurt.
“Political parties that were invited to the function may take their own decision as per their political line. We have no opinion on the lines taken by them. No one’s participation in the programme would hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community,” he said.
The Suprabhatham editorial came as a sharp criticism of the Congress’s stance of participating in the ceremony in Ayodhya. The Samastha mouthpiece Suprabhatham criticized that the Congress is adopting a soft Hindutva stance and if this stance is not changed, the BJP will definitely come to power in 2024. But Jiffiri Muthukoya Thangal explained that it is not Samastha’s stance that has come out in Suprabhatham.
“Samastha has not been invited for the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. If invited, political parties can either accept the invitation or reject it; that’s their policy. Samastha’s policy should be told by Samastha and not by the press. Samastha has no opinion on the political policies of political parties. No matter where anyone goes in Ayodhya, our feelings will not be hurt.” Jiffiri Muthukoya Thangal said that believers can participate in any celebration that is not against their religious beliefs.
