Thiruvananthapuram: In anticipation of New Year celebrations, the police have announced plans to intensify security checks in Thiruvananthapuram. Authorities have issued guidelines for public gatherings at various locations, suggesting that celebrations at beaches and public spaces are to conclude by 12 am, while New Year parties in hotels and clubs have been given an extension until 12:30 am.
As part of the security measures, barricades will be erected at Manaveeyam Veedhi starting at 7:30 PM. City Police Commissioner CH Nagaraju said that all festivities at this location should conclude by midnight. To ensure a smooth and secure celebration, 1,500 police personnel will be deployed throughout the city to control issues related to the New Year celebrations. The primary objective is to implement a special system aimed at preventing drug use during the celebrations.
The police have warned of strict actions against violations of the regulations, with non-bailable sections being imposed where necessary. Organisers planning DJ parties in hotels are required to obtain special permission from the police in advance. To enhance safety measures, women police officers in mufti and pink police officers in uniforms will be positioned in key areas. Strict measures will be taken against individuals involved in criminal activities, with special attention given to those who had been involved in crimes during previous New Year’s Day celebrations.
