Kochi: The High Court of Kerala has involved in the police custodial death of Rajkumar after the postmortem report revealed that he was brutally tortured by the police. The High Court has sought an investigation to check if there was any lapse from the part of the Magistrate who remanded Rajkumar to police custody.
The High Court wants to know why the Magistrate did not order medical treatment for Rajkumar and instead remanded him. The High Court has ordered a detailed report of the investigation after hearing the Magistrate’s side.
Rajkumar was presented in front of Idduki Magistrate, Reshmi Ravindran, on 15 June. She remanded the accused Rajkumar to police custody.
Rajkumar, who was arrested earlier, had been tortured and brutally beaten up. He died in hospital on 21 June. The detailed postmortem report claims that he was beaten and thrashed mercilessly by the police. Most of his injuries are below his waist.
Rajkumar was arrested in a case of loan fraud.
