Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan said that what SFI and Left are projecting is their culture. He was responding to questions from the media on the protest by SFI, burning his effigy. He said it is only his effigy that was burnt; but in Kannur people were burnt alive.
The Governor said that it is not just the protesters who are responsible for the protests but those who call for such protests are also equally responsible. He said SFI, a left-wing organisation belonging to the ruling left party in Kerala are taking law and order in their hands and the Governor is not responsible for their illegal activities. The Chief Minister himself supports the protest. They are unhappy with the legal system hence promoting the protests, the governor alleged.
“They showed their culture by burning the effigy. It is the Chief Minister who gives permission to their protests. I don’t understand why they continue this drama. The Chief Minister himself is supporting the attackers.”
A famous novelist in Kerala said in his book about left-wing fascism that if you want to pluck coconuts from your own coconut grove, you have to take the permission of the left front, the Governor remarked.
The Supreme Court has rightly said that the government is trying to interfere with the powers of the Chancellor. The government had raised ambiguity before the verdict, but it ended with the verdict. It is clearly written in the file that the bills are being signed on the instructions of the Advocate General, even though it is illegal. This was accepted by the Supreme Court. It is the Finance bills that are not signed. If there is clarity in the University Bill, will sign it, said the Governor.
