Thiruvananthapuram: Marxist cyber goons insulted Mannathu Padmanabhan on his Jayanti (Birth Anniversary). They went wild with insulting comments on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s Facebook post.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan remembered Mannathu Padmanabhan on his Jayanti with a very trivial remark. There are only a few lines in the memorial post by CM which began thus: “Today is Mannam Jayanthi. Mannathu Padmanabhan, a renaissance hero who fought against the prevailing social customs in Kerala, is also the founder leader of NSS.”
Below this Facebook post of the CM were posted outrageous comments of cyber goons insulting Mannathu Padmanabhan. Along with that, there were also racist comments by people seeming to be religious extremists on Chief Minister’s Facebook post.
A comment reads: “We make those who made racist remarks into renaissance heroes. It is a special renaissance status that only upper class people get. Upper caste consciousness works in our society by demonizing the basic classes of people. Mr Mannath should have been given the Bharat Ratna. Mr Mannath who started life as a social reformer later became a casteist and later declared in the presence of Golwalker that RSS is the hope of Hindus.”
Another comment says: “Someone said long back that this Mannathu Padmanabhan Nair was among those who rioted to dissolve the EMS Cabinet in 1957. What message does the Jayanti of the perfect anti-communist give to the communists?”
It also contains several comments for which a case can be filed under IPC 153A. There is protest gearing up due to Mannathu Padmanabhan being insulted in this way in the Chief Minister’s Facebook post, and his Facebook managers not even trying to act against it.
There is a big PR team to handle the social media activities of the Chief Minister. They are capable to control and remove abusive comments like this. But even though the comments insulting Mannathu Padmanabhan and attacking him on religious and racial grounds were overflowing, those handling the Chief Minister’s Facebook did not respond; they did not take down the comments or react to the disparaging comments.
Mannathu Padmanabhan was an Indian social reformer and freedom fighter from the south-western state of Kerala. He is known as the founder of the Nair Service Society, which represents the Nair community. Mannathu Padmanabhan Pillai was born in Perunna village in Changanacherry, Kottayam District, on 2 January 1878.
