Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for three districts in Kerala as it forecasts heavy rainfall today. Yellow alert have been issued in Ernakulam, Idukki, and Palakkad districts, anticipating heavy rainfall in isolated places.
Gusty winds, ranging from 30 to 40 kmph, are expected to accompany the rain and thunderstorms at isolated locations in these districts. The meteorological experts say that these weather patterns are influenced by a cyclone located over Lakshadweep and a low-pressure extending up to Vidarbha.
The influence of these weather systems is likely to persist, leading to a continued possibility of rain in Kerala for the next 4–5 days. The India Meteorological Department has, however, reassured residents along the Kerala-Karnataka coasts that there is no hindrance to fishing activities in the region.
