Pathanamthitta: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI (M)) has suspended a local leader and Konni area committee member for a period of one year following his misbehaviour with a woman activist. The decision was made during an area committee meeting held yesterday in response to a complaint filed by a female activist associated with an NGO union.
The CPI (M) district leadership received the complaint four months ago, prompting an investigation into the allegations that the accused, Nagesh G Nair, who holds a position in the area committee, was involved in inappropriate behaviour towards the complainant, a CPI (M) woman activist.
Upon receiving the complaint, the party leadership initiated an inquiry, seeking an explanation from Nagesh G Nair regarding the reported incident. It appears that the investigation culminated at an area committee meeting held yesterday, where the decision to suspend Nagesh was taken. This decision is now pending approval from the district committee. Nagesh G Nair was absent from yesterday’s Konni Area Committee meeting, where the disciplinary action was taken.
