Thiruvananthapuram: The State BJP President, P. S. Sreedharan Pillai, today replied to news reports that twisted the statement of Union Law Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad, concerning bringing a bill to protect the traditions of Sabarimala. Sreedharan Pillai told that if the BJP is committed to protecting the traditions of Sabarimala then it means that the party will surely do it.
Sreedharan Pillai in his Facebook post also explained the term ‘sub-judice’ which the Law Minister said during his reply to a query if a law be brought to protect the traditions of Sabarimala.
He said that the term ‘sub-judice’ means that the matter is being considered by court. He also added that nowhere in the statement does the Law Minister say that the party will not bring a law to protect the traditions of Sabarimala.
The BJP leader accused the media for twisting the statements of the Minister and said that it is misleading and done with an evil intent.
Sreedharan Pillai said that when the media do not get what they want they will twist the statements to suit their needs. He said that this is against the ethics of journalism and added that some Malayalam media houses have the habit of twisting news etched in their genes.
He reminded that protecting Sabarimala traditions was one of the programs of the BJP manifesto. Besides, the Prime Minister has also specifically spoken about protecting the traditions of the holy shrine. Sreedharan Pillai also said that the pleas by Hindu outfits and BJP is still pending before the court and the party will bring the law after the verdict of the court.
