Pathanamthitta: The procession carrying the Thiruvabharanam to be adorned on the idol of Lord Sabarimala Ayyappa on the Makaravilakku day, will start from Pandalam today (January 13). The procession starts at 1 pm today and following the traditional route, will reach Sannidhanam on January 15.
Due to the death of a member of the royal family, there will be no ceremony at the Pandalam Palace and Pandalam temple this time, and no representative from the palace will participate in the procession.
This time there will be no ceremony of placing Thiruvabharanam for darshan in front of the Pandalam temple or in the palace premises. Thiruvabharanam will be kept in a specially prepared pandal outside the Pandalam temple premises. Thiruvabharanam will be taken out from the Pandalam temple, sprinkled with holy water and transferred to the pandal. But devotees are not allowed darshan of Thiruvabharanam even in this pandal.
The devotees are given the opportunity to have darshan of Thiruvabharanam at the Kulanada temple which is the first halt of the procession after it begins from Pandalam. The group that is carrying the Thiruvabharanam casket in the procession this time is the same group that carried the casket last time led by Guruswami Kulathinal Gangadharan Pillai who will carry the casket on his head this time too.
