Kochi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his two-day visit to Kerala, inaugurated projects worth over Rs 4000 crore in Kochi, signaling a significant boost to the region’s infrastructure. The unveiled projects include the New Dry Dock (NDD) at Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), the International Ship Repair Facility (ISRF) of CSL, and the LPG Import Terminal of Indian Oil Corporation Limited at Puthuvypeen, Kochi.
Addressing the gathered crowd in Kochi after the inauguration, PM Modi expressed gratitude for the warm welcome received from the people of Kerala. Emphasizing the importance of the new infrastructure initiatives, he announced that the Central Government is actively working to enhance the capacity of coastal cities like Kochi. The Prime Minister confidently declared Kochi as the nation’s upcoming shipbuilding hub.
“Today when Bharat is becoming the centre of global trade, then we are increasing our sea power. Soon we will see Kochi growing to be on the epitome of this,” PM Modi outlined. He elaborated on the government’s commitment to augment the capacity of coastal cities like Kochi, highlighting ongoing initiatives such as the Sagarmala Pariyojana to fortify port infrastructure and connectivity.
PM Modi, on a two-day visit to the state, earlier in the day offered prayers at Guruvayur Sree Krishnaswamy Temple in Thrissur. During his temple visit, he also attended the wedding of actor and BJP leader Suresh Gopi’s daughter. The Prime Minister visited Triprayar Sree Ramaswamy Temple in Thrissur, another prominent temple in the state, to offer prayers.
Having conducted a grand road show in Kochi on Tuesday, attended by thousands of people, PM Modi was accompanied by BJP state President K Surendran during the event. This marks the second visit of the Prime Minister to Kerala in just two weeks.
