Ernakulam: Prof. TJ Joseph, the former Head of the Malayalam Department at Newman College in Thodupuzha, who faced a brutal attack by members of the Popular Front, participated in a programme with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He shared the stage with the Prime Minister at the BJP Shakti Kendra Pramukh’s meeting held at Marine Drive in Kochi.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) recently arrested the prime accused, Savad, in connection with the 2010 attack on Prof. TJ Joseph. The incident occurred on July 4, 2010, when members of the Popular Front severed Prof. Joseph’s right hand and stabbed him in the left leg in front of his family. The attackers accused the professor of insulting the Prophet in a question paper.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the event, unveiled three pivotal development projects at Cochin Shipyard, collectively valued at Rs 4,006 crore. The projects include the dedication of the International Ship Repair Facility (ISRF) at Ernakulam Wellington Island, constructed at a cost of Rs 970 crore on 42 acres of land leased from the Cochin Port Trust. Additionally, the new drydock at Thevara, established with an investment of Rs 1,800 crore, and the Indian Oil Corporation’s import terminal in Puduvaipin, built at a cost of Rs 1,236 crore, were also presented to the nation.
