Thiruvananthapuram: To ease the journey for pilgrims heading to Ayodhya, 24 special trains will be running from various locations in Kerala, including Nagercoil, Thiruvananthapuram, and Palakkad. The first service is scheduled to begin on January 30, 2024, and these trains will remain operational throughout February and March.
The ticket price for this special service has been fixed at Rs. 3,300. The Palakkad to Ayodhya route will be operational on February 2, 8, 13, 18, 23, 28, stopping at key stations including Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Jolarpettai, and Gomti Nagar. Return train services from Ayodhya are scheduled for February 2, 9, 14, 19, 24,and 29, and March 4.
Passenger names will be provided in advance to senior railway security officers at stations through which the trains pass. The booking of train tickets can be done through IRCTC, and it is anticipated that around 10,000 passengers will reach Ayodhya by train daily.
The decision to increase the number of Aastha trains to 24 made after requests from the Kerala state BJP leaders to the Railway Minister. Nationally, a total of 66 Aastha trains have been announced. The state BJP leaders have conveyed that the BJP will organise lodging facilities for devotees arriving in Ayodhya by train. The train schedule will be revealed by the railway within the next two days.
