Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the LDF government is trying to make Kerala a center of excellence in the field of higher education. Pinarayi said that new courses, infrastructure development and universities will be constructed for this purpose.
There is no need to worry about our children going abroad. No need to worry about our country being unlivable. Malayalees living in countries with the best facilities in the world wanted to somehow reach Kerala during the Corona period. Pinarayi said that even the epidemic could not bypass the facilities we had prepared. This statement of the Chief Minister comes in response to the criticizing speech of Archbishop Mar Joseph Perumthottam of Changanassery Archdiocese.
The Archbishop during a program recently, where the Syro-Malabar Church welcomed Mar Raphael Thattil who was appointed as Major Archbishop, had criticized the Chief Minister on the issue of youth migrating from Kerala to foreign countries. While Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was on the stage, the Archbishop said that young people migrate to foreign countries because they feel that life will not be successful in Kerala. To enhance the quality of life, the youth migrate to secure better employment aligned to their education and skill. The Archbishop emphasized that authorities should take measures to prevent youths from migrating abroad.
In response to this Pinarayi Vijayan had argued that the new generation leaving Kerala is not the state’s problem but the change of times. But Opposition leader VD Satheesan echoed the concern shared by Perumthottam and said it should not be taken lightly.
