Palakkad: The Palakkad district committee office of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) did not hoist the national flag during the 75th Republic Day celebrations. The office remained locked at the time when the flag was scheduled to be raised. Instead of the national flag, only the CPI (M) flag was there in front of the locked office.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) actively participated in the Republic Day festivities. The national flag was hoisted at the BJP Palakkad district committee office. The District Congress Committee (DCC) members in Palakkad also hoisted the national flag earlier in the day.
