Thiruvananthapuram: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs will release the official order this evening to provide Z+ Security to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. This decision comes in response to the recent frequent attacks against the Kerala Governor by SFI members. The Union Home Ministry has opted to enhance security measures for the Kerala Raj Bhavan and Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, entrusting the Governor’s security to the central security agency CRPF.
Z Plus is the highest security protection after SPG security. Currently, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan is the only state official with Z+ Security. Nationwide, approximately 45 individuals have Z+ security. This security detail involves 55 CRPF personnel and police personnel operating 24 hours a day. The security team may include NSG (National Security Guard) commandos if deemed necessary based on Intelligence Bureau reports. It will also feature a bulletproof vehicle and escorts working in three shifts. Presently, West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose is the only governor with Z+ security.
This change in security protocol for the Kerala Governor reflects the failure of the Kerala Police in providing adequate security. It underscores the challenging law and order situation in Kerala.
