Ernakulam: A CPI (M) leader was arrested in Ernakulam for sexually assaulting a young woman who had come to study music. The former President of Elamkunnapuzha Panchayat, AK Unnikrishnan, was arrested.
The incident, which occurred on January 21st, led to the arrest of Unnikrishnan. Previously a Panchayat member, he contested as a rebel in Congress and later secured the position of Panchayat President with Congress. He then joined the CPI(M).
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Chakkittapara, Kozhikode, a teacher faced suspension following allegations of sexually abusing a student. He was suspended on the complaint of sexually assaulting a minor girl. The incident unfolded after the girl, seeking treatment for physical discomfort, reported the harassment to a doctor.
