Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan continued his defence of his gunman, Anil Kumar, and security personnel, Sandeep, during a session in the Assembly on Monday. He stated that he did not notice any misconduct by his gunman, Anil Kumar, or security personnel, Sandeep. The Chief Minister’s statement comes amidst an ongoing case related to the assault on Kerala Students Union (KSU) and Youth Congress workers.
The chief minister’s gunman and security personnel did not appear for questioning by the Kerala police regarding the assault case. However, the gunman accompanied the Chief Minister to the Kerala Assembly for the budget session on the same day.
During the Assembly session, opposition Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) questioned the Chief Minister about whether he was aware of the brutal beatings by his security personnel against youth organisations in the state. In response, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan asserted that he had not noticed any such beatings. He explained that, since the inception of Nava Kerala Sadas, vehicles carrying ministers, including himself, have faced obstructions, and acts of violence have been committed against these vehicles by certain youth organizations in the state.
The Chief Minister stated that the police did not suppress any democratically organised, peaceful protests. He maintained that he had not noticed any incidents of beating by security personnel in such protests.
