Thiruvananthapuram: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has confiscated unaccounted property belonging to former Minister and Congress leader K Babu MLA. Properties worth Rs 25.82 lakh of the MLA was seized by the ED under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
MLA K Babu was accused of the illegal acquisition of property between the years 2007 and 2016. Following this, the Vigilance department filed the case against K Babu for alleged financial irregularities amounting to Rs 150 crore. K Babu was serving as the Minister of Fisheries, Ports, and Excise in Oommen Chandy’s cabinet then.
The vigilance had registered and initiated the investigation during 2016. Following the allegations, K Babu resigned.
