Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has directed the Universities to provide representatives in order to form ‘Search Committee’. The Raj Bhavan suggested that immediate action be taken to provide university representatives to the Search Committee for the appointment of Vice-Chancellors (VC). Letters were sent from Raj Bhavan to VCs of the Universities of Kerala, MG, CUSAT, Kannur, Malayalam, KTU, Agriculture and Fisheries.
The letter states that the Universities should be ready to provide representatives to the Search Committee within one month. Failing which, based on the verdict of the Supreme Court, the Governor will form his own search committee and will proceed with the appointment process of the VCs. Many universities in Kerala only have temporary VCs currently.
Meanwhile, Kerala VC Dr. Mohanan Kunnumel has directed the Registrar to convene a Senate meeting on February 16 to elect the representative of the search committee.
