Palakkad: Electricity Minister K Krishnankutty placed blame on farmers for the ongoing water crisis in the Parambikulam Aliyar region. The minister stated that the primary cause of the ongoing crisis was the delayed harvesting of crops. According to him, farmers, anticipating water availability at any time, are the ones responsible for the current problems.
The minister said that misinformation is circulating in the matter. He revealed that 150 cusecs of water are allocated for the Parambikulam-Aliyar region, and necessary discussions with Tamil Nadu have secured an agreement to release 250 cusecs of water. This will allow farmers to cultivate without the looming threat of drought. He also argued that the problem with the farming method has worsened the situation.
