Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Finance Minister, KN Balagopal, asserted in his budget speech that the state has undergone significant transformation in the past eight years. Balagopal announced the adoption of the Chinese development model to propel Kerala’s progress, introducing a development zone that includes non-resident Malayalis.
The minister expressed confidence that the state’s progress would disappoint detractors. He declared Kerala as a “sunrise economy,” citing Vizhinjam as the pivotal gateway to the future development of the state. Addressing critics, Balagopal stated that Kerala’s achievements would disappoint those against its progress, highlighting the state as an exemplary model of secularism. In the budget, the Minister assured resolution of human-wildlife conflicts and announced concessions for sandalwood cultivation. He further disclosed plans to amend laws pertaining to sandalwood cultivation in the near future.
