Ernakulam: The investigation into the alleged monthly payment controversy involving Chief Minister and his daughter, Veena Vijayan, has taken a serious turn as the Central government intensifies its efforts. The Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) Team initiated a raid at the corporate office of CMRL company, located in Aluva. Led by Deputy Director Arun Prasad, the team reportedly obtained crucial information during the operation, with the investigation stemming from details found in a diary.
The investigation revolves around allegations that Veena Vijayan received substantial sums for undisclosed services. As of now, Veena and her team have not presented evidence to substantiate the nature of the services provided.
In response to the probe, the CPI(M) has opted to confront the investigation politically. Despite the Income Tax Interim Settlement Board’s order and the ROC’s discovery of serious irregularities in the contract, the CPI(M) has consistently supported Veena Vijayan. The party asserts that the transactions between the companies involved were transparent. Even with the SFIO taking over the investigation, the CPI(M) remains steadfast in defending the Chief Minister and his family, issuing multiple press releases on the matter. Additionally, the government has thwarted the Opposition’s attempts to bring an urgent motion to the Assembly regarding the controversy.
