Kochi: The NIA Court is scheduled to deliver its verdict today in the trial of ISIS terrorist Riyas Aboobacker, accused of plotting a string of bomb blasts in Kerala.
Riyas Aboobacker, a native of Kollengode, Palakkad, is the only accused in the case. According to reports, he was arrested by the NIA on May 15, 2018, from Kasaragod.
The NIA found that the terrorist was a follower of Sri Lankan Easter bombing mastermind Zahran Hashim and had planned for a similar blast series in Kerala as well. The NIA also collected evidence against him for attempting to recruit youth for the terrorist group through social media.
The NIA also found that the terrorist constantly misused social media platforms to instigate others to carry out terror attacks in Bharath. The NIA charged him under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) sections 38 and 39 for his unlawful activities.
