Kottayam: Dr. Vandana Das’s father, Mohan Das, remains steadfast in his demand for the CBI to investigate the murder of Dr. Vandana Das. Yesterday, the Kerala High Court rejected plea filed by Mohan Das, seeking a CBI investigation into the brutal killing of Dr. Vandana Das by a patient at a taluk hospital in Kollam district in May 2023.
Mohan Das stated that he would file an appeal against this decision in the division bench. He also mentioned his request for an agency outside Kerala to investigate the case. Earlier, Mohan Das had submitted a request to CM Pinarayi Vijayan. He added that he approached the HC because he had not received any decision on his request to the CM.
Mohan Das mentioned that the petition had been adjourned 20 times, with 6 different judges presiding over the case. He disclosed that he had not revealed earlier that he had not received any support from the Kerala government. However, he stated that the Kerala government is now opposing his request for a CBI investigation. He questioned the reason for the state government’s opposition to his request.
Mohan Das reiterated his intention to approach the division bench and highlighted that his daughter, Dr. Vandana Das, was denied treatment for 4 hours on the day of the incident. Additionally, he criticized the Kerala police report, stating that it is not credible. He accused the police present at the scene of not attempting to stop the attack but instead trying to move away from the spot. He also accused the government of attempting to protect the police.
Mohan Das further alleged that the Kottarakkara police hastily fabricated the First Information Report. He added that none of the doctors accompanied her while being taken to another hospital in Thiruvananthapuram by ambulance.
Dr. Vandana Das, a house surgeon at Azeezia Medical College Hospital working at the Kottarakkara taluk hospital, was stabbed several times in front of police by Sandeep, who had been taken to the Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital for a police medical examination on May 10, 2023, and subsequently succumbed to her injuries.
