Court’s refusal to stay probe by ED into KSIDC is a slap in the face of the government: K. Surendran

Alappuzha: BJP state president K Surendran attacked the state government in the ‘Monthly Payment’ case. Surendran said that the court’s ruling on KSIDC plea is a slap in the face of the government and once the case is solved and the judgement is ruled against Pinarayi Vijayan and his daughter, Pinarayi will not be able to continue as the Chief Minister even for a moment. Surendran was addressing a press conference organized in Alappuzha.

The Kerala High Court had refused to stay the investigation by the of Enforcement Directorate (ED) into the state run public sector undertaking (PSU), KSIDC, in connection with the financial dealings with the company owned by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s daughter Veena Vijayan.

KSIDC had moved the HC seeking a stay. During the hearing of the case the court questioned the parties if they were withholding any information about the investigation. It also asked why KSIDC should have a problem in records verification.

“The reward of corruption was given to the Chief Minister’s daughter,” said the BJP state president. He said, “KSIDC is bound to answer the questions asked by the Income Tax Department. From the beginning they were not ready to talk about the relationship between KSIDC, CMRL and Veena’s company. They did not specify the transactions between these companies. SFIO is a very strong investigative agency to prevent black money transactions in the country. The companies are obliged to answer their questions. There is no other fraud group like KSIDC in Kerala. UDF has also done many scams keeping Kunhalikutty in the forefront.”

Who is responsible for Kerala’s financial collapse, asks K Surendran. He said, “ VD Satheesan is the Chief Minister’s savior. VD Satheesan is trying to prevent government corruption from being exposed. The only thing left to know is how many properties of UDF and LDF leaders are to be confiscated in Kerala and how many out of the confiscated properties are to be returned to the people. Public sentiment is against both fronts. The state government’s argument that the Center is ignoring Kerala has fallen flat. Why are the Chief Minister and his party army camped in Delhi? There is no benefit for Kerala by going to Delhi and holding a political program. This is making Kerala more miserable,” said Surendran.

Central government decided to hand over the investigation against the Exalogic company to the SFIO on January 31st. The SFIO (Serious Fraud Investigation Office) is a statutory agency in India tasked with investigating corporate fraud. CMRL has a KSIDC representative on its board of directors. This resulted in KSIDC to be brought under the purview of investigation.
