Kochi: The NIA Court in Kochi will sentence ISIS terrorist Riyas Aboobacker today. He is accused of plotting a series of bomb blasts in Kerala. The court found Riyas Aboobacker guilty in the case.
The NIA charged the terrorist under sections 38 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) as well as section 120B of the IPC, which have been proven.
Riyas Aboobacker, a native of Kollengode, Palakkad, is the only accused in the case. According to reports, he was arrested by the NIA on May 15, 2018, from Kasaragod.
The NIA found that the terrorist was a follower of Zahran Hashim, the mastermind behind the Easter bombings in Sri Lanka, and had planned a similar series of blasts in Kerala. Additionally, the NIA presented evidence to the court, accusing him of attempting to recruit youth for the terrorist group via social media.
