Thiruvananthapuram: The government has made another bid to promote NGO union leader KM Prakash to the position of Controller at Kerala House. Through a strategic alteration of the rules, the position of front office manager has been promoted as the Controller, providing a pathway for Prakash’s promotion. By elevating the post of front office manager to gazette status, the government has paved the way for Prakash’s promotion.
Traditionally, the Controller position was reserved for officers of IAS rank. However, with the recent amendment, the post of front office manager joins the ranks of gazetted positions alongside the Catering Manager and Housekeeping Manager at Kerala House. This amendment opens up opportunities for these three post holders to be considered for the esteemed role of Controller.
The decision comes on the heels of a petition received by the Chief Minister, advocating for Kerala House employees’ eligibility for promotion to the Controller position. Subsequently, a new order was issued, leading to a double promotion for the NGO union leader, who previously did not hold gazetted rank.
