Kottayam: The Kerala Padayatra, led by BJP state president K. Surendran, will take place in Kottayam district today. The padayatra which will begin at the Thirunakkara old bus stand ground after Surendran’s visit to Vaikom Mahadeva Temple, will conclude at Sankranthi. A public meeting is scheduled at Thirunakkara after 3 p.m.
The primary objective of the Padayatra is to highlight projects implemented by the Narendra Modi government over the last ten years, which include the construction of 2,373 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the annual transfer of Rs. 6, 000 to 1,40,000 farmers through Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, and the provision of gas connections to 16,416 women via the Ujjwala Yojana, in Kottayam district.
Surendran expressed gratitude for the support he received daily, with thousands from various parts of the state participating in the Padayatra over the last seven days. The recent Padayatra in Mavelikara witnessed a significant turnout, indicating widespread public participation and interest in the campaign.
