Kochi: The NIA court has sentenced Islamic State terrorist Riyas Aboobacker to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in the case of planning a terrorist attack in Kerala. The judgment was delivered by the NIA court in Kochi, with all charges against the accused proven.
The accused faced three charges, including two under UAPA(Unlawful Activities Prevention Act). Riyas Aboobacker, a native of Kollengode, Palakkad, was apprehended by the NIA during the ongoing investigation of the Kasaragod IS case and has been in jail for more than five years.
The investigative team found significant evidence proving a plan to carry out a series of bomb blasts in the state. Aboobacker was apprehended while preparing for a terrorist attack, as evidenced by voice clips, among other things.
