SC dismisses DYFI leader’s plea in female law student assault case; police yet to make arrest

Pathanamthitta: The Supreme Court has dismissed the plea of DYFI leader Jaison Joseph challenging the High Court order in the case involving the assault of a female law student at Mount Zion Law College. Earlier, the High Court had denied Jaison’s anticipatory bail plea. Dissatisfied with the High Court’s decision, Joseph subsequently approached the Supreme Court with a petition challenging the order.

The incident dates back to December 20 of the last year when the young woman lodged a complaint accusing Jaison Joseph of assaulting her at Mount Zion Law College. Despite the rejection of his anticipatory bail plea by the High Court on January 9, the police have not yet taken Joseph into custody. In response to this development, the woman once again came forward against Joseph, prompting him to appeal to the Supreme Court questioning the High Court’s ruling.
