Thiruvananthapuram: Residents in the state will soon face higher costs for obtaining new electricity connections as the government approves a hike of up to 10 percent in electricity connection fees. Additionally, the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has decided to increase rates for 12 services it provides.
The decision comes after the Electricity Board sought an escalation in new electricity connection rates, proposing an increase ranging from 10 percent to 60 percent, which has been sanctioned by the Regulatory Commission. The revised connection fees will be calculated based on factors such as the number of posts required for installation, the length of the line, and the provision of transformer facilities.
