Kollam: Residents of Kadappa West, Mynagappally, in Kollam district, were shocked by the response they received regarding their complaint in Nava Kerala sadas about a hazardous 11 KV power line passing over their houses. Despite filing a complaint to the Nava Kerala Sadas, demanding a resolution to this situation, they were informed that the cost of changing the 11 KV line would amount to Rs 12,18,099 to be borne by 10 affected families. Consequently, several individuals have opted to leave the area due to the presence of these power lines.
The dangerous 11 KV power line poses a significant threat to the safety of the local community as it traverses closely above their homes. It has hindered residents from renovating or selling their properties. In this situation, 41 people submitted a petition to the New Kerala Sadas. As a response, the KSEB section in Mynagappally has demanded Rs 12,18,099 for the installation of five posts and rerouting the line.
While connecting the current 11 KV lines along the roadside could potentially resolve the issue, KSEB insists that the cost should be borne by the landowners. Poor families are facing crises due to this financial burden. Despite appeals made to the Chief Minister, the issue remains unresolved.
