Wayanad: Forest department officials have identified the location of Belur Makhana, the elephant that killed a man named Ajeesh, in the residential area of Mananthavady. The elephant’s signal was traced to the forest area within the Bavali section. In response, forest department personnel have surrounded the vicinity where the elephant is currently located.
Kumki elephants, namely Vikram, Bharat, Surya, and Konni Surendran, have been deployed to the Bavali region to assist in managing the situation. Their task is to tame the elephant and take it out of the forest safely. Plans are underway to tranquillize the elephant later in the evening. Officials have said that it is difficult to transport vehicles to the location where the elephant is currently present.
Preparations for the tranquilization process have been arranged on-site. In addition to forest department personnel, revenue-police officials are also present in the area. Local residents have been advised to refrain from unnecessary outdoor activities as a precautionary measure.
