Wayanad: The Farmers Association has announced a hartal on February 13 in the Wayanad district. The decision was made during a meeting led by the Farmers Association, prompted by a recent incident of loss of life due to a wild animal attack in the district. The hartal has been called on the grounds that the government is not providing adequate security to the people.
The Farmers Association in Wayanad has been continuously protesting in the district for the past four years. However, the protest has intensified due to the authorities’ perceived inaction. The representatives of the association assert that the value of a person in Wayanad is only Rs 5 lakhs.
Additionally, the organization alleges that Rs 10 lakh was announced to the family of the deceased, Ajeesh, only after officials from the district administration were gheraoed yesterday. The hartal has been announced from 6 am to 6 pm on Tuesday. The farmers association says that they will not force shops to close or block vehicles.
