Thiruvananthapuram: The medical report confirmed that Sandeep, the accused in the murder case of Dr. Vandana Das at Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital, has no mental health problems. The medical expert team examined Sandeep twice and finalized the medical report, stating that Sandeep has no mental or psychological issues. This medical report is crucial as the accused Sandeep has tried several times to escape from the case, citing mental health issues.
The first medical report submitted also states that Sandeep had no mental issues. However, after this, he was brought to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College for another 10-day examination for the second time. A special medical team of experts examined Sandeep for 10 days, and the reports also confirmed that he has no medical issues. This led the police investigation team to state that the accused Sandeep cannot escape from the case. Earlier, the Kerala High Court rejected his bail plea. He is lodged in a high-security cell of Poojappura Central Jail along with Padmakumar, the primary accused in the Oyoor child abduction case.
Meanwhile, Sandeep has been trying to file an appeal to withdraw the order dismissing him from his teaching job. At the same time, Dr. Vandana Das’s father, Mohan Das, and the family demand a CBI investigation in this case.
As per the reports, Dr. Vandana Das, a house surgeon at Azeezia Medical College Hospital working at the Kottarakkara taluk hospital, was stabbed several times in front of police by Sandeep, who had been taken to the Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital for a police medical examination on May 10, 2023, and subsequently succumbed to her injuries.
