Thiruvananthapuram:  Malayalam popular film actor Joy Mathew strongly criticized the Left Front for creating controversies and criticizing MP NK Premchandran for attending a lunch hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Parliament canteen.

On 8 February, eight MPs were invited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a lunch treat at the Parliament canteen. NK Premchandran of the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) from Kerala was the only person invited to the lunch from the opposition front. Following this, several Left Front leaders deliberately criticized NK Premchandran for attending the PM’s lunch at the Parliament canteen. At the same time, several others extended support to NK Premchandran by stating that there is no mistake for an MP in attending a lunch treat invited by the Prime Minister of the country.

Actor Joy Mathew posted on Facebook that it is the duty of every citizen to attend if the Prime Minister calls for a treat. Joy Mathew made it clear that there was nothing wrong in accepting the invitation extended by the Prime Minister. Joy Mathew also mentioned that opposing leaders are deliberately creating controversies and do not have anything substantial to say against PM Modi. Through his post he highlighted the intolerance of left supporters.

Joy Mathew also shared a photo of Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan respectfully bowing and wishing Modi, and mentioned in the facebook post that we should set an example of the courtesy of the person who respectfully bowed and wished the Prime Minister.

Joy Mathew added that those who do not understand that political dissent and the language of politeness are two separate things.  He added that some are creating controversy because of their intolerance.

Joy Mathew also shared another photo of senior CPI(M) leader and CITU National Secretary Elamaram Kareem participating in a programme organized by BMS. Pointing to this photo, Joy Mathew questioned left members for not criticizing the CPI(M) leader, Elamaram Kareem. He said in a mocking tone that biased criticism from Left front leaders and members explicitly shows that Left members are still slaves. He accused the Left party followers of practicing political leader worship and their intolerance against others.
