Thiruvananthapuram: Former Minister Kadakampally Surendran, who criticized the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, faced criticism from the CPI(M) State Committee. The State Committee accused Kadakampally for igniting an unnecessary controversy and holding the ruling Municipal council accountable. Kadakampally had said that two or three projects are suffocating the capital city, with residents facing difficulties in transportation for years. He also alleged that the construction work being carried out as part of the AMRUT project is further restricting the people.
“The impassable roads in the city need urgent repair. Smart city projects cannot be accelerated. I wouldn’t solely blame the municipality or the councillors, but there are evident drawbacks. Roads have been disrupted in many parts of the city under the guise of development plans. Residents who have been deprived of transportation for years are suffering. This issue needs to be resolved,” Kadakampally stated. He further alleged that there are situations where some projects have been initiated but have failed to yield any results.
