Thiruvananthapuram: The Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has declined to disclose the sponsorship figures for the Keraleeyam programme during the assembly session. Responding to inquiries, the Chief Minister stated that details regarding the implementation of the programme were unavailable. Additionally, the government admitted to a lack of information regarding the expenditure incurred for ministers’ vehicles during the Nava Kerala Sadas.
Despite the Keraleeyam being conducted with much pomp and show across four venues for a week, the government has yet to unveil the sponsorship figures. Requests for these figures under the Right to Information (RTI) Act have provided unsatisfactory responses from various departments.
Addressing concerns raised by opposition MLAs, the Chief Minister said that the promised sponsorship for the programme had not been received in full. Only the expenditure figures from the Public Relations Department (PRD) have been disclosed. The absence of comprehensive income and expenditure figures contradicts the government’s previous announcement to provide transparency to the public.
