Kottayam: The Assistant Education Officer (AEO) of Karukachal, Omana has strongly criticized both the government and the education system in the state. She expressed concern over the declining quality of education in government institutions, emphasizing that many teachers view teaching merely as a job. Omana also commended parents who choose to enroll their children in private schools. These remarks were made during the anniversary celebration of St. Stephen’s English Medium School in Manimala, held a week ago.
She criticized that her children were studying in a Christian management school and that the government school teachers saw teaching children only as a profession. She further praised educators who strive to provide excellent learning opportunities to students despite facing various challenges.
Omana stated that the government pays lakhs of rupees as salary to the teachers, yet the number of students in schools decreases every year. She attributed this trend to the lack of quality education.
